The Ashly CLX-52 is a professional two-channel peak compressor/limiter designed for sound reinforcement, recording, and broadcast applications. It uses peak-sensitive automatic gain control with an "infinite soft-knee" characteristic and a dual release-time design for smooth, natural-sounding gain reduction.

The double release-time constant allows the CLX-52 to respond quickly to brief transients while using a slower release for sustained overdrive. This helps prevent the obvious pumping or slow recovery often associated with conventional compressor/limiters.

Front-panel controls provide adjustment of input gain, threshold, compression ratio, attack, release, and output level. Each channel also features an in/out switch and an 11-step LED meter for monitoring gain reduction and input/output levels. A stereo tie switch allows the two channels to track together.

Each channel includes a TRS detector insert that can be used as a ducking input or with an equalizer for frequency-sensitive compression/limiting.
