Designed by Dr. Stewart Tavener, one of the UK's leading ribbon microphone specialists, the Black Ops combines the smooth, detailed character of a classic ribbon microphone with the robustness required for close-miking loud sources such as guitar cabinets, bass amps and drums.

This microphone has been used exclusively in a professional smoke-free recording studio and remains in excellent cosmetic and technical condition.

Vintage Ribbon Character with Modern Practicality

The Black Ops features a 2.5-micron aluminium ribbon and a custom high-iron output transformer specifically designed to reduce proximity effect while maintaining outstanding detail and tonal balance during close placement. The result is a beautifully natural ribbon sound with exceptional clarity, warmth and high SPL capability up to 135 dB.

It excels on electric guitar cabinets, bass amps, drums, brass instruments and vocals, delivering the unmistakable depth and realism for which premium ribbon microphones are renowned.

The microphone is supplied with the original Fenrir Precision Vibration Mount.

Far more than a conventional shock mount, the Fenrir is a beautifully engineered CNC-machined aluminium support system that securely holds ribbon microphones without sagging or unwanted movement. Its twin-yoke design, precision bearings and carefully controlled clamping mechanism allow extremely accurate positioning while protecting valuable microphones.
