Originally introduced in the JMP era before becoming synonymous with the JCM800 range in the early 1980s, the 2203 circuit helped define the sound of hard rock and heavy metal for generations.Built in England, the 2203X retains the essential characteristics of the original amplifier: 100 watts of EL34 power, a single-channel cascaded-gain preamp, high and low sensitivity inputs and the unmistakable Marshall Master Volume circuit.This particular example dates from 2014, making it an earlier 2203X reissue from the period when Marshall was still using Dagnall transformers. These are a particularly nice feature of the earlier production models and will appeal to players who appreciate the traditional components and construction associated with classic British Marshall amplification.Classic JCM800 ToneThe JCM800 2203 needs little introduction.
