Do you love amazing old school distortion pedals, but wish they had a tone control? Do you love germanium distortion pedals, but wish they'd more easily achieve unity volume? Do you love dinos... errr... well, pre-dinosaur megafauna that are typically lumped in with dinosaurs in the public consciousness? Do you like great original art in the style of medieval marginalia? If you can answer YES to any of these questions, then the Dimetrodon Distortion is the pedal for you!
Drawing on the DNA of the vintage MXR Distortion+ and DOD 250 as well as a tone control inspired by the '75 Ram's Head Big Muff, the Dimetrodon Distortion is an original Steggo pedal design with a PCB laid out by a Ukrainian friend (South Obolon FX). It incorporates mostly new production parts (high quality 1% tolerance metal film resistors from Yageo, tight tolerance film capacitors from WIMA and KEMET, new production IC, electrolytic capacitors from Nichicon), but also includes some NOS parts (such as the germanium clipping diodes) to create an amazing pedal with huge dynamic range.
Please note - in the video demo, the 75RH version of the Dimetrodon Distortion sounds like the Dimetrodon Distortion Deluxe in scooped mids mode. The stand alone Dimetrodon Distortion in that particular video is the Sovtek tone stack.
The Dimetrodon Distortion is true bypass and runs on a standard 9V power jack - and since this is an old school design, it even comes with the option of using a 9V battery (not included!).
Comes with box, care and feeding instructions, and a packing dino!
