We’ve finally received a new shipment of handmade concert ukuleles by Tatsuya Mitsui, a popular luthier from Kamakura.

This model is the “Type K” concert size. Featuring a Yakusugi cedar top and Jindai Keyaki sides and back, it is a special instrument that luxuriously combines rare Japanese woods. The deep, rich grain patterns unique to wood that has aged over many years, combined with Mr. Mitsui’s meticulous craftsmanship, result in a finish so beautiful it’s impossible not to be captivated by it.

The top is adorned with a herringbone rosette and purfling, creating a classic atmosphere reminiscent of vintage ukuleles. Furthermore, the pickguard made from Jindai Keyaki adds a distinctive accent, resulting in an exterior where the texture of traditional Japanese materials and vintage charm harmonize beautifully.

Furthermore, the body end and headstock veneer feature “Hakone Yosegi-zaiku,” a traditional craft by Mr. Mitsui. The exquisite craftsmanship stands out, creating beautiful details that truly make this a one-of-a-kind instrument.

The sound is characterized by a calm, sweet, and deep resonance. The combination of Yakusugi and Jindai Keyaki produces a warm tone with a pleasant, clear projection that cuts through the mix, along with a rich sustain. The resonance that naturally fills the space is a testament to the craftsmanship unique to handmade instruments, which maximizes the inherent beauty of the wood.

This is a truly special instrument that fuses Japan’s finest woods, traditional craftsmanship, and the builder’s artistry. Supplies are limited, so if you’re interested, please consider purchasing it as soon as possible♪
