The early '90s USA Custom RG line featured Japanese-made bodies and necks, assembled and finished in the USA. All bodies were originally routed for a single humbucker, but pickup configuration, inlays, and fretboard material were all fully customizable. USA Custom RGs were available with fabric animal prints on the UCMD Metal Design series, but also with exotic wood tops on the UCEW Exotic Wood series, and with airbrushed designs on the UCGR Graphic Design series.
