The Godin 5th Avenue Uptown T-Armond blends Godin’s popular hollowbody 5th Avenue platform with a stylish Havana Burst finish and a pair of boutique TV Jones T-Armond pickups. With plenty of sparkle for fans of ’60s pop and rockabilly, the T-Armond can also dial up some righteous jazz tones.
This is a Godin "SF" guitar which means there is a slight cosmetic defect. But they did not mark the inspection card, and we can't find anything. Godin is very picky so that's not so unusual. It carries a full Godin warranty and you get a new guitar at a savings!

The Godin 5th Avenue has been one of Godin’s best sellers for years, and while the construction and tonewoods remain unchanged from the standard 5th Avenue line, the TV Jones pickups, Bigsby vibrato, and glossy Havana Burst finish set it apart nicely.A little about the T-Armond pickups: based on the Gretsch-DeArmond Dynasonic pickup developed in the ’40s, the T-Armond is a true single-coil pickup with six individual magnet pole pieces. The six screws are height adjustments for the magnet poles, not part of a second coil. Known for twang and strong note definition, the T-Armonds are voiced to temper some inherent brightness and smooth out the response.Tested through a pair of amps—a Fender Deluxe Reverb and our Evil Twin Princeton clone—the TV Jones pickups deliver plenty of attack with a full midrange that gives the guitar a throaty tone that won’t be mistaken for a typical single-coil. They have less snarl than a P-90 but a fuller, meatier voice than a Strat. The low strings have a solid “kerplunk” that harkens back to early-’60s players like George Harrison, Chet Atkins, and Carl Perkins. Their snappy response and note separation are just the ticket for picking and big strummed chords that shimmer. While the original DeArmond Dynasonic pickups were not aimed at jazz players, the volume and tone controls on the Uptown are quite effective, and with a little tweaking—or even a set of flatwounds—warm, woody jazz-box tones are well within reach.The Uptown’s look certainly does not scream “high gain,” but a couple of pedals yielded some tasty rock tones. The natural clarity of the T-Armond pickups creates harmonic, sparkly crunch, while the midrange keeps things from getting overly bright. The pickups open up nicely, and the low-end attack is substantial and meaty, with a tone less raw than a P-90. Being a hollowbody, there are limits to how far you can push it without feedback, but the T-Armonds offer plenty of range and dynamic capability.The neck on the Uptown is typical 5th Avenue: a somewhat slim C profile (.780" at the first fret) with a 1.7"-wide Graph Tech nut. Playability and fret finish are very smooth, and the Richlite composite fretboard has a slick, dense feel that makes it an ideal sustainable ebony substitute. The Bigsby-licensed vibrato is a fun, functional retro touch, and by design, it has no impact on tuning stability when not in use.The Godin Uptown T-Armond is a great spin on the 5th Avenue family, giving players the unique, energetic tones of the TV Jones T-Armond pickups. If you like the look and feel of a hollowbody but want a little more spice and dynamics, the Uptown T-Armond will fit the bill.
