About this listing
Gibson first unveiled two brand new Les Paul models featuring maple tops and Cherry Burst finishes at the 1958 trade show. These two guitars, serial numbers #8 3096 and #8 3087, were presented under the name “Les Paul Standard.” Today, the design and specifications of the late-1950s Les Paul Standard have become an irreplaceable icon in guitar history. Among them, the Les Paul Standard bearing serial number #8 3096 is the instrument Slash himself has kept since the 1980s. It wasn’t until around 2016 that it was confirmed to be one of the very first Les Paul Standards that changed guitar history. This is a brand-new collectible piece, part of a worldwide limited run of only 50 signed units. Built to the highest True Historic specifications Gibson offered at the time, it features top-grade tonewoods, newly refined finishes, adhesives, components, and details. Every aspect stays faithful to the original 1950s Les Paul. According to Gibson, the True Historic line represents the closest and most accurate reproduction they have ever produced. The “First Standard” is also widely regarded by collectors as the best-sounding model among Slash’s entire series of replicas. Using 3D scanning technology, Gibson replicated the wear patterns of the original guitar with exceptional precision. The aging on the True Historic models is more meticulous than ever, from the pickup covers, tuners, and jack plate to the subtle patina, corrosion, and playing wear—even down to the replacement screws found on the original instrument. This level of detail brings the replica as close to the real guitar as possible. It features carefully selected mahogany for both the body and neck, paired with a rosewood fingerboard. The neck is carved to a special ’58 C-shape profile. It comes equipped with a set of Gibson Custombucker PAF pickups designed according to the specifications of the original PAFs. What makes this piece even more special is that we personally hand-selected it from multiple Slash First Standard Replicas and have kept it in our private company collection ever since. It has a perfect weight of 3.7 kg, offering a clear and articulate tone in the neck position and a thick, sticky, uniquely expressive voice in the bridge position. The Slash 1958 Les Paul Reissue “First Standard” #8 3096 Replica stands as one of Gibson’s most iconic and sought-after reissues. It is rarely seen on the market, and the signed edition—limited to only 50 pieces—is the rarest of them all. Its collectability and long-term value make it a truly exceptional choice for both collectors and dedicated players.Weight: 3.7kg/8.16lb.Comes with the original Gibson Custom Shop hard case, COA and original paperwork. The shipping fee includes insurance. We usually declare a low value on the shipping invoice and the insurance will follow the full value of the goods. From Gibson:The original Les Paul Model featured a gold finish from its introduction in 1952 until it received a new cherry sunburst in 1958 along with a new name, "Les Paul Standard." It debuted at the July 1958 Music Industry Trade Show in Chicago but it didn't catch on until its beautiful appearance and resonant properties inspired the likes of Keith Richards, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Mike Bloomfield, Duane Allman, Peter Green, Joe Walsh, Joe Perry -- and eventually Slash -- to perform with one. And although Slash uses his beat-up 1958 Les Paul Standard regularly in the studio, he didn't know until a recent discovery that it was a hugely important piece of guitar history. Shipping records confirm that Slash's guitar (serial #8 3096) was actually sent to that historic 1958 Music Industry Trade Show as one of the first two sunburst Les Pauls ever made and the first ever to feature a two-piece center-seamed maple top, a key feature of the Les Paul Standard. That makes Slash's guitar the first production Les Paul Standard model! So, this year Gibson Custom and Slash set out to capture the magic, vibe and history of #8-3096 for a special run of replicas. It was perhaps the most advantageous and laborious guitar recreation project Custom Shop has ever undertaken given the extreme finish checking, wear and corrosion of the original, not to mention the exact replication of the neck dimensions, colors and construction. The resulting prototype was sent to Slash and his reaction made all the painstaking work worth it: "Mind-blowing. I couldn't have possibly wanted anything more." Now is your chance to own this instantly-collectible, playable work of art which pays homage to both a legendary player and legendary Gibson model -- a perfect replica of Slash's First Standard.=====================About Guitar Shop Taiwan:Guitar Shop Taiwan is the largest high-end guitar specialty store in Taiwan founded in 2007, located in Taipei, Taiwan.
