About this listing
I’m offering a 1989 Fender Japan Stratocaster ST57-55, a Japanese ’57-style Stratocaster reissue produced during the highly regarded FujiGen era. This particular guitar has been carefully verified internally. The I-series serial number corresponds with the late-1980s / early-1990s Fender Japan production period, while the neck heel carries a clear handwritten date of 11-30-89, allowing this example to be dated to November 30, 1989. ST-57 markings are also present on the neck and inside the neck pocket. The construction, hardware and electronics are consistent with the ST57-55 specification from the Fender Japan Vintage Series. The guitar follows the classic 1957 Stratocaster formula with a one-piece maple neck and fingerboard, skunk stripe, 21 vintage-style frets, single-ply white pickguard, vintage-style synchronized tremolo and three Fender Japan vintage-style single-coil pickups. The electronics have also been inspected. Inside are the correct Japanese Fender vintage-style single coils with black fiber bobbins, a YM-50 5-way selector switch and period-correct Japanese electronics.Specifications: Model: Fender Japan Stratocaster ST57-55 Vintage Series / ’57 Stratocaster Reissue Year: 1989 Made in Japan FujiGen production I-series serial number Neck date: 11-30-89 Finish: 2-Tone Sunburst Basswood body Maple neck One-piece maple fingerboard Traditional skunk stripe Bolt-on construction 25.5" scale length 7.25" fingerboard radius 21 vintage-style frets Black dot position markers 3 x Fender Japan vintage-style single-coil pickups YM-50 5-way selector Master Volume 2 x Tone Vintage-style synchronized tremolo 6-screw bridge mounting Vintage-style tuners Single-ply white ’57-style pickguard Nickel/chrome hardware This is a very classic late-1980s Fender Japan Stratocaster, retaining the key features associated with the second half of the 1950s - maple fingerboard, simple single-ply pickguard, vintage tremolo system and the clear, dynamic response of three traditional single coils.Condition:The guitar is in very good and honest vintage condition. There are normal signs of use consistent with an instrument from 1989, including surface scratches, a few small marks and some finish wear around the edges of the body. The hardware has developed a natural patina over the years.Nothing here looks artificially aged - the wear is genuine and suits the character of a well-used vintage Japanese Fender. 14-day return policy.
