The very first generation was originally licensed and built under Blendomatic (an earlier company owned by Dr. No) before transitioning into the Dr. No brand.
It started as a side project while the builder worked as a guitar roadie and tech for the Dutch rock band Peter Pan Speedrock for over a decade.
Peter van Elderen (frontman of Peter Pan Speedrock) needed a reliable distortion and booster pedal for lead gain, tried the first Drive-O-Matic, and adopted it immediately for live and studio use.
