About this listing
Here's a a bass you don't see much out there! This model is equipped with two high-power extra-pole-piece Precision Bass pickups. The bass was manufactured in 1985-1986 in Fender Japan, it is known as the PB-555 from the Boxer series. This Fender Japan PB-555 inherits the versatile yet original Fender tones, it was produced by the current Fujigen factory during the building period of the famous E-serial models. This example shows minor play wear with some surface scratches most notably on back of guitar but no cracks, major dings, etc. Frets show minimal to no wear, neck is straight and action set to standard .080-.100 measured at 12th fret. This bass has been upgraded with gold Schaller tuners and gold Badass bridge. Appears there was an additional switch mounted on control plate at one time but is no longer there.Although it is a passive bass, the TBX tone control allows for a variety of tonal options. Controls are a bit different than most basses; The mini switch nearest to volume knob is a 2-way pickup selector that works in tandem with the lowest knob that acts more as a pickup coil blend knob (see illustration pictures to show all the combinations!). The variety of options is truly mind boggling as you can choose any combination of the 4 pickup coils or anywhere in between! Additional toggle switch is a an out of phase/in phase switch for bridge pickup set.Third knob below phase switch is a traditional tone knob. Although it is a passive bass, it has amazing versatility. The all-black and gold look is certainly gives it a unique and classy look. The bass will come with a nice padded gigbag.
