Inspired by a classic American overdrive pedal from the 1990s.

Designed originally to emulate the tone of classic tube amplifiers, it performs equally well from clean to overdrive tones. Its treble control is ingeniously engineered, making it easy to dial in your desired sound.

Its internal sonic secret lies in two germanium point‑contact diodes used for hard clipping, paired with a built‑in voltage‑boost circuit — truly an engineering‑grade design. Precisely because of this, its perceived character and practical usage have evolved greatly over time.

In most cases, hard clipping is nearly inactive when the tone remains clean. At this stage it delivers excellent boost performance. Thanks to its high‑voltage design, it achieves remarkable dynamics and perfectly balanced frequency response.

As gain increases into overdrive, the clipping characteristics of germanium diodes generate a fascinating blend of clean and overdrive tones.

When gain rises further into solid overdrive territory, it exhibits the traits of hard‑clipped sound: rich grit, hardness, brightness, and sharp, crisp articulation.

During my design process, I focused on enhancing its resolution and reducing unwanted grit, optimizing its performance at low‑gain settings. (I believe few players nowadays use it as a high‑gain overdrive.)
