One year after the magnificent ES-335, Gibson launched the ES-330. While visually almost indistinguishable from its sibling, the 330 was designed to appeal to a completely different type of player. Whereas the 335 quickly gained a foothold in rock 'n' roll—and remains right at home on loud stages to this day—the 330 belongs to the hollowbody family, lacking the solid center block found in the 335. This detail gives it a more distinctive, bluesy, resonant, and responsive character. In the hands of an experienced guitarist, it is incredibly fun to play through a small tube amp.

The 1962 ES-330 Reissue features a one-piece mahogany neck with an authentic 1962 profile—a C-shape that is slightly slimmer than the '59 model. The one-piece rosewood fingerboard is fitted with 22 authentic medium-jumbo frets and adorned with binding and simple cellulose dot inlays.

The sound of the 1962 ES-330 Reissue is driven by a pair of P-90 pickups with black "dogear" covers. The bridge pickup features standard windings and an Alnico 3 magnet, while the neck pickup impresses with an underwound coil and an Alnico 5 magnet—a perfectly balanced duo. Each pickup is hand-wired to its own volume and tone controls using CTS® potentiometers and paper-in-oil capacitors. A three-way Switchcraft® toggle switch and a 1/4" output jack round out the electronics.
