The KoAloha KTM-00D6 Gloss Solid Hawaiian Koa 6-String Guilele is a tenor-size, six-string guilele made in Hawaii with a solid Hawaiian koa top, back and sides and a gloss lacquer finish. What is the KoAloha KTM-00D6 made of?

The KoAloha KTM-00D6 has a solid Hawaiian koa top, back and sides with a gloss lacquer finish and single-piece sidewall construction. It has a CNC-cut sapele neck, an ebony fretboard and bridge, and a TUSQ nut and saddle. The headstock is KoAloha's 5-pointed crown, and the soundhole is KoAloha's patented "Musubi" design. The fret markers are abalone.

What is a guilele and how is the KoAloha KTM-00D6 tuned?

In Terry Carter's video, a guilele is like a normal ukulele with its four strings, G-C-E-A, plus two extra strings, which you can play like a guitar. The KoAloha KTM-00D6 is a 6-string tenor-size guilele with a 17.25-inch scale length and 20 frets. It is tuned A-D-G-C-E-A and uses KoAloha fluorocarbon strings, with wound strings for the A, D and G (strings 6, 5 and 4).

What does the KoAloha KTM-00D6 sound like and who is it for?

KoAloha describes the tone of its koa ukuleles as a balance of warmth and brightness, and says they suit styles from fingerpicking to strumming and from classical to jazz. In his video, Terry Carter says the guilele gives a full, thick sound. Its A-D-G-C-E-A tuning bridges the gap between a guitar and a ukulele, which suits guitar players who want a smaller instrument and ukulele players who want six strings.

Will I receive the exact guilele in the photos?

Yes. Each KoAloha KTM-00D6 we list is photographed individually, so the guilele shown under "Your ukulele" is the instrument shown in its photos. Solid koa varies in grain and colour from one instrument to the next.
