About this listing
I am selling a brand new Rupert Neve Designs 5035 Shelford Channel officially sourced from the factory. Feel free to contact me for inquiries and to place an order. Below are additional terms in my store and a description of the device. All products are officially sourced from the vendor or distributor.I provide a minimum 3-year warranty on all products, or longer depending on the type of product. Most products are available for testing on demand in the showroom in Warsaw.Every customer in Europe is entitled to a 30-day return policy. This option doesn't cover customers outside the EU.The Shelford Channel is the definitive evolution of the original technologies in Rupert's classic console modules like the 1073, 1064, 1081 & 2254, thoughtfully advanced and refined for the 21st century studio. With richly-colored tonal options for making bold statements with your music, and precisely-engineered detented controls for recall, the vintage-inspired Shelford Channel maintains the soul of Rupert's classic designs with new levels of versatility — delivering what can only be described as the combined essence of fifty years of Rupert Neve's designs.Key elements of its design:Transformer-Gain, Class-A Mic Preamplifier The Shelford Channel's preamplifier uses a directly-coupled transformer input with gain provided by the custom transformer itself — a first in over 40 years for Rupert Neve. The RN4012 transformer provides 15 dB of gain while discrete Class-A amplifier blocks deliver another 57 dB, for a total of 72 dB of gain, controlled via a stepped attenuator and precision trim pot. The result is the unmistakably smooth high and low frequencies of vintage equipment paired with an incredibly low noise floor.Best-of-the-Classics Inductor EQ The low-frequency band is designed to produce a creamy, resonant bass response similar to a vintage 1064, but unlike the vintage modules it can be used as either a shelf or a peak filter, adding punch, dimension, and control to your low end. The midrange band is based on that of the 1073, ideal for sweetening vocals and instruments, with a proportional Q response well-suited for minimizing problematic frequencies. The high-frequency band is a hybrid vintage/modern design blending inductor circuitry with capacitor-based topologies, with the shelf/peak corner switchable between 8 kHz and 16 kHz.Diode Bridge Compressor The Diode Bridge Compressor is based on the same topologies found in Rupert's vintage designs — refined and adapted for the modern engineer. By understanding the limitations of vintage units like the legendary 2254, painstaking effort was taken to reproduce the unique tone of these classics while improving the noise floor, accuracy, and flexibility of time constants. Six timing modes are available: Fast, Medium Fast, Medium, Medium Slow, Slow, and Auto — with a Fast mode that speeds up all time constants by an additional 30%.Variable Silk Saturation The Silk circuit allows for precise control over harmonic content, with Red and Blue Silk modes enhancing different frequency ranges, tailoring the output to suit various musical textures and styles.Dual-Tap Transformer Output The new dual-tap transformer output stage maintains headroom or allows the full driving of the channel without clipping standard converters, with twice the operating voltage of vintage designs.Front-Panel DI Input The Hi-Z front panel input uses the same discrete Class-A FET with transformer topology as the Rupert Neve Designs RNDI, utilizing the RN4012 input transformer directly into the microphone preamp for gain. The DI also includes a passive THRU output to feed a separate amplifier.VU Meter & Sidechain Insert A VU meter is calibrated to display both average RMS output level and compressor gain reduction, and a sidechain insert is available for external dynamic control.Technical specifications:Mic Preamp:Input Impedance: 2,200 ΩMaximum Input: +21.5 dBu (150 Hz–22 kHz); +8 dBu (20 Hz–22 kHz)Gain Range: Up to +72 dB (15 dB transformer + 57 dB Class-A amplification)Equivalent Input Noise: –121.37 dBuNoise (Main Out, unity gain): –100.9 dBu (unweighted, 22 Hz–22 kHz)Noise (–6 dB Out, unity gain): –106.6 dBuFrequency Response: ±0.25 dB, 17 Hz–45 kHzDirect Input:Maximum Input: 8 dBu (20 Hz–120 kHz)Noise (Main Output): –100 dBu (22 Hz–22 kHz)Line Input:Maximum Input Level: +30.5 dBu (20 Hz–30 kHz)Maximum Output Level: +26 dBu (16 Hz–20 kHz)High-Pass Filter:Variable: 20 Hz–250 Hz, 12 dB/octaveEQ:LF Band: Shelf or peak, vintage 1064-styleMID Band: ±15 dB, 6 center frequencies (220 Hz, 400 Hz, 900 Hz, 1.6 kHz, 3.6 kHz, 8 kHz), proportional QHF Band: Hybrid inductor/capacitor, shelf or peak, switchable 8 kHz / 16 kHz cornerCompressor:Ratios: 1.5:1 to 8:1Attack (TC1 Fast): 180 µs – 1.8 ms / Release: 100–150 msAttack (TC2 Med-Fast): 750 µs – 5.25 ms / Release: 160–250 msAttack (TC3 Medium): 2.7–18 ms / Release: 350–525 msAttack (TC4 Med-Slow): 4.6–38 ms / Release: 600 ms–1 sAttack (TC5 Slow): 11–72.5 ms / Release: 800 ms–1.25 sAuto (TC6): Attack 5.75–35.5 ms / Dual Release: T1 500 ms, T2 1 sFast Mode: Speeds up all time constants by 30%General:Form Factor: 1U rack-mountDimensions: 48.3 × 26.7 × 4.5 cm (19" × 10.5" × 1.75")Shipping Weight: 5.5 kg (12.25 lbs)
