About this listing
Here’s an interesting example. A 1968 Gretsch Viking that upon opening the case stuns with its vintage mojo and vibe. On closer inspection you notice that fate so common to so many vintage Gretsch guitars, the deterioration of the binding, known in guitar circles as celluloid rot. There’s a lot of it, and the pics detail it well. Please call or text to ask questions or see more pics. Everything else checks out on the guitar: straight neck, low action, excellent playability, electronics seemingly working as they should(if you know these guitars you know how funky and cool the switches and circuit paths are), truss rod works as should, pickups sound killer, etc…The A 440Hz tuning fork, or as Gretsch calls it, “The Floating Sound Unit”, has been removed and stored in the case. Comes with a newer nice hardshell case that fits the guitar perfectly. If you’ve been on the hunt for a Viking, haven’t wanted to break the bank, and the celluloid deterioration only enhances the vintage vibe, this may be the one for you.
