SG in proven constructionThe construction of the SG Standard guitar naturally follows the classic specifications and promises the ideal combination of powerful sound and easy handling. The handy mahogany body not only sits comfortably on the body, but also guarantees unhindered access to the high positions of the glued mahogany neck thanks to the characteristic double cutaways. In addition, the pleasantly grippy but not too strong "rounded" neck profile with 43 mm nut width lies comfortably in the hand, so that the classic playing techniques of blues and rock can be realised with ease. Gibson 490R and 490T humbuckersWith a Gibson 490R humbucker in the neck position and a Gibson 490T humbucker on the bridge, two modern classics of the Gibson pickup line-up take over the electric sound conversion of the SG Standard electric guitar. As a slightly modernised PAF interpretation, the classic Alnico II pickups deliver a warm sound with a full mid-range spectrum and lively dynamics, which is suitable for both sensitive clean passages and powerful overdrive riffs. The increased output of the bridge pickup also helps to elicit a juicy distortion from the guitar amplifier. To adjust the sound of the electric guitar, there are separate volume and tone controls for the humbuckers in addition to the 3-way pickup switch. Tradition-conscious hardware equipmentLast but not least, Gibson equips the SG Standard Ebony electric guitar with tradition-conscious and reliable add-on parts. An aluminium stopbar on the body holds the strings securely and guides them to the classic Nashville aluminium Tune-O-Matic bridge, whose generous adjustment options guarantee precise intonation and comfortable string action.
