About this listing
1991 Fender Japan PB62 order model in Metallic Blue Sparkle (MB) finish with matching headstock—which has yellowed dramatically with age to a green/teal hue.Manufactured at the FujiGen factory. "L" prefix serial; original pots dated 1991.100% original and fully functional.MB is one of the first sparkle finishes, with the code never appearing in the catalog. The only advertised appearance of the color I’ve found was a Taniguchi shop ad from early 1992. (MB may have been the shop’s naming convention, rather than the FujiGen code used at the factory.)Sparkle finishes didn't appear in the catalog until 1996, with the STR-65SP and TLR-65SP, with Blue Sparkle (BSP) as an option.ConditionCosmetically the 35+ year old instrument is in overall great shape, with a few minor dings, scratches and superficial wear commensurate with age. Clear coat has yellowed dramatically with age. Chrome hardware has patina.Frets have very minimal wear.
