Denver Amp Works is a Prototype amp shop that builds amps one at a time ...just the way you asked for them.  Give us your schematic, pick the color, grill, speakers...etc...and that is what we will build.  Sometimes we will build a duplicate to sell to the public.  We do not have a set model, or line of amps, but build many amps similar to the originals and add your twist to it.

This is number 3 of 3, Tweed DeLuxe (5E3).  This unit has always been in our Demo room, never giged, but does have a few very minor blems. Check photos for details.

This is a unique unit because you can A-B two types of 9 pin tubes while you are playing the amp.

In other words you can play a note or cord, and switch from a Telefunken 12AX7 to a Mullard 12AX7...for instantaneous tone comparisons. That is to say, you can flip from one 9 pin tube socket to another with the flip of a switch. You can compare a 12AY7 to a 12AX7, or a 12AT7

This way you can dispel-or prove all the myths about what dual triode is best or worst, in the first position or the PI tube.

You can also switch between a Tube rectifier (5Y3) or Solid State rectification.

In addition to the stock 15 watt PP 6V6 "Tweed" circuit, it has a few upgrades:

Shipping can be anywhere from $150 to over $1000 depending on where you live and how fast you want it.

  • Pull Volume knob for bright switch. (Selects a different triode)
  • Pull Magnet knob for Power on.
  • Pull tone knob for more 3rd octave distortion.
  • Variable magnet strength control of the FluxTone speaker's volume
  • Can play other amps through the FluxTone speaker system
  • Can be hot switched from 12AY7 to 12AX7 (the first pre-amp tube).
  • Can be hot switched from 12AY7 to 12AX7 (the second pre-amp tube)
  • FluxTone Model 14 speaker (Jensen C-12-Q)
  • LED indicator shows relative magnet strength.
  • Can be Hot switched from tube, to solid state rectifier.
  • External amp input...up to 22 watts.

These days most modern attenuators have many switches and knobs that try  to recover the tone that they have killed, or never allow to be created...FluxTone just has the one knob...Magnet Strength.  There is no need to try to get back anything, because the tone did not go anywhere...its all still there.   FluxTone does not send your signal into a group of resistors and other parts, it goes straight to the speakers voice coil, just like normal.  Your speaker is still directly connected to the amp and fights with the tubes to make all those wonderful overtones and harmonics.

And lastly, and according to many professional players, adjusting the FluxTone system does absolutely nothing to the "Feel or Touch" of your amp because it does not ever come into contact with the signal going from your output transformer to the speaker terminals.   All other attenuators will change how hard you strike the strings, as you try to sound the same when you attenuate. The FluxTone system is transparent as it adjust the "Room Volume" and nothing else.

FluxTone does not make you learn a new way of playing the same song as you adjust it's volume.  No other attenuator can claim this. In other words the touch and tone of your amp remains exactly the same over the entire 25 range...there is never any need to "Re-Adjust" any knobs as you adjust the FluxTone control.  You don't have to learn how to play the song differently just because you turned down the volume.

As with all DAW (Denver Amp Works) combos...you can use it as an adjustable extension cabinet, to tame other amps with it's on-board FluxTone speaker system.  Just put the amp in standby, jack into the "EXT AMP" jack, and turn down another amp that has the same or less power as the rating on your speaker.  This way you can enjoy playing your other amps at a usable level.
