DOD FX53 Classic tube, Valve mod, Msm workshop
DOD Fx53 Pedal, Modified : VALVE MOD
THE VALVE MOD :
Slight reduction in overall gain
Removal of hard clipping to retain only soft clipping
(Soft clipping similar to the Marshall Bluesbreaker)
Looser tone, less compressed
Slight reduction in richness/bass
Addition of a bit of clarity and overall brightness
Installation of a standard power jack
By design, the Classic Tube aims to reproduce the sound of ’60s amplifiers. And even though it has a distinct character, it delivers a muddy, closed-in sound. Overall, it lacks clarity and definition and suffers from a significant lack of available volume. It’s a bit over-the-top, and while it’s charming, the sound is too rounded, which leads us to decide not to keep this model. DOD chose to combine hard and soft clipping in the same pedal, if you want both overdrive and vintage distortion at the same time. This makes the whole thing feel a bit excessive. But that’s without counting on MSM WORKSHOP!
The Valve Mod is designed to open up the tone, making it brighter while retaining that very thick, grainy character. Finally, the sound opens up and breathes! It truly captures the dirty yet restrained character of early rock amp saturation. The change is dramatic and really lets you dial in that classic ’60s gain!
In very good condition, battery compartment included, and standard power supply installed.
Sold without box.
