Dave Smith Instruments
Synth pioneer and prodigy Dave Smith started the renowned Sequential Circuits workshop out of his garage in the 70s. Producing the first programmable polysynth, the Prophet 5, as well as inventing the MIDI standard and releasing the first MIDI equipped production synth, the Prophet 600, Dave Smith cemented his legacy as synthesis legend. After selling Sequential, he spent years pioneering digital technologies and physical modeling synthesis for companies like Yamaha, until he struck back out on his own in the 21st century with the now equally acclaimed Dave Smith Instruments. With classics like the Evolver, Prophet '08 and Mopho he reestablished his role as an innovator with one foot planted in musical tone and the other in boundary pushing sound design. His latest creations, including the Prophet 6 and Pro 2, combine analog filters, digital effects and advanced sequencing into some of the most powerful instruments in the world.
