Gibson Les Paul Standard "Burst" 1958 - 1960

Top pick
1960 Gibson "Leesa" Les Paul Standard

About this listing

We are proud to feature “Leesa,” an iconic 1960 Gibson Les Paul Standard famously owned by Howard Leese, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and longtime member of Heart. This legendary Burst features a beautifully faded top with stunning flame that comes alive in the right light, with the “All-Seeing Eye” that makes it instantly recognizable. The neck is slim and effortless to play, and the tone is monstrous, with the hottest PAF we've ever encountered at ECG, reading a scorching 9.2k at the bridge. Everyone who's had the pleasure of playing this guitar has been blown away, and for good reason. A truly extraordinary Burst with incredible history, an iconic aesthetic, and some of the best tones we've ever heard. Includes original hardshell case.

Overview

The Les Paul Standards made by Gibson between 1958 and the end of 1960 represent the very pinnacle of American electric guitar craft and rank as the most collectable vintage guitars on the market. These years were the only ones where the Les Paul Standard was built with a flamed maple top with a cherry sunburst finish, a stopbar tailpiece and tune-o-matic bridge, as well as a pair of PAF humbuckers. An estimated 1700 of the mythical "Burst" Les Pauls still exist today -- find yours on Reverb.
