Hi everyone,
I'm selling my 1977 Fender Jazzmaster. This guitar has been with me since the late '90s, and we've been through a lot together!
I bought it from the original owner, who gigged it heavily with his country band. I didn't exactly treat it like a museum piece either—it spent plenty of time being dragged through clubs, rehearsal spaces, and countless gigs. This guitar has seen some miles, and it wears them proudly.
That said, because it was always a working instrument, it was also always looked after properly. All maintenance and repair work was done by Thomas Stratmann in Hanover (). He's refretted it twice over the years. One pot was replaced at some point (the original is included), but apart from that, the guitar has never caused any headaches.
It's one of those rare "plug in and go" guitars. It sounds great through pretty much anything. Loud, quiet, Fender Twin, Vox AC30, Marshall, Orange, Hiwatt, Big Muff, clean sounds, bridge pickup, neck pickup, both together—you name it. It just works. I also own a Jaguar, and compared to this Jazzmaster, that thing can be a proper diva...
Back in the early '90s, I had the chance to buy a '63 Jazzmaster, which was my dream guitar at the time, but I couldn't afford it. About a year ago, I finally managed to get one. So now I own two Jazzmasters, which feels a bit silly these days. I'm no longer hauling gear from club to club, and I don't need a backup Jazzmaster anymore. I've never been much of a collector either. I'd much rather see this guitar end up with someone who appreciates it for what it is and actually plays it.
The photos show a new Fender case. The old non-original case finally gave up the ghost and was thrown out. The new case can be part of the deal if you want it, but it doesn't have to be. My Jaguar wouldn't mind keeping it.
If you've got any questions, just drop me a message.
Cheers,
Stephan
