My 1985 Guild StarFire IV is a beautiful, near mint guitar. There’s one tiny ding on the back of the headstock. For a 37 year old guitar it looks as new.
This is just like Buddy Guy’s favorite ax, which he brings out on special occasions. I’ve seen him play his Starfire IV at his old Checkerboard Lounge on 43rd St., on Chicago’s Southside. I was sitting at the bar with Buddy talking about Junior Wells, of all people, because Junior had been comming in to the Kingston Mines every Tuesday night, where my band held sway. He liked doing a set with us and had been talking about us to Buddy. Buddy’s face lit up and he said, “Junior told me about you!”
Suddenly Buddy got up and said, “I’m gonna grab my ax. I’ll be right back!” He went to his office in the back and reemerged with his Guild Starfire IV. He jumped up on stage where his brother Phil Guy was playing with his band. He then proceeded to play some of the most beautiful, straightahead blues I have ever heard. The bartender came over to me, leaned forward and said, “I don’t know who you are, but he never does that!” Junior had talked to Buddy about my band. He told Buddy that we had, “a real good unit.”
I guess Buddy felt like he needed to make a statement! This Guild I am selling plays like buttah and has beautiful tone. Many beautiful tones!
it’s been babied and cared for. It really does look ‘as new.’ The frets are excellent. The guitar is set up and ready to go. It’s a keeper! I am selling due to illness (cancer, emphysema)
You will not be disappointed with this guitar. I am not a good photographer, and the camera in my iPhone has been acting weird. I can send another couple of pics that are pretty good if I can just find them on my phone!
I’ll pay for shipping if you pay $1399, otherwise we can negotiate. Shipping is about $125 - $175 Dollars in the USA. I will entertain reasonable offers.
You will not find a thin-line semi-hollowbody of this quality and condition for less money. Made in the old Guild factory in Westerly, Rhode Island, in the good ol’ US of A.
This is a high quality instrument.
