This is a Selmer jazz guitar previously owned by the great Gypsy Jazz style player Stochelo Rosenberg, serial number #652 dating back to June 1947.

Vintage Selmer guitars have been highly appreciated over the years, and are becoming very collectible since only a small number of them were ever made. All in all less than approximately 900 were made; half of them in Maccaferri D-style, and the other half in Selmer small soundhole style.

They are tonally superior to any other Gypsy style guitar ever made. As soon as you pick up a guitar like this old Selmer and start playing it, you know there is no substitute for this tone. In rareness it outdoes a pre-war Martin D28 or a 1959 Gibson Les Paul.

It has all the snap and bark, and that typical tone you only find in a Selmer. The projection is phenomenal and you'll definitely want to hear the huge attack and matured openness of this guitar for yourself.

This guitar features a solid spruce top, laminate Brazilian back and sides, figured walnut neck with a newer ebony fretboard, and a typical Selmer neck/headstock construction. This guitar is in good condition and has great mojo and killer looks. There are two repaired cracks running from the bottom of the top upwards and 2 smaller ones following the fingerboard towards the soundhole, which are also repaired. There is obvious playwear, several dings and scratches but all that playing made it to what it is today, perhaps one of the best Gypsy Jazz guitars in the world.

Travels in a newer hardshell case with TFOA passport.

Consignment.

In 2008 Stochelo Rosenberg tried out this fantastic guitar, which you can see and hear in the video above.
