1929 Martin Handcraft Phase III Alto Saxophone – Silver Plated – Gold Washed Bell – Fully Restored

Beautiful, professionally restored vintage American saxophone from the golden era of Martin craftsmanship.

Offered for sale is a beautiful 1929 Martin Handcraft Phase III Alto Saxophone, serial number 91xxx, featuring an exceptionally well-preserved silver-plated finish and a stunning gold-washed bell interior.

This is a fine example of Martin's late-1920s craftsmanship, combining elegant vintage styling with the distinctive tonal characteristics for which Martin saxophones are highly regarded.

Recently Professionally Restored

This instrument has recently undergone a comprehensive restoration, including:

  • New saxophone pads throughout
  • New cork and felt materials
  • New blued steel needle springs
  • Careful reassembly and mechanical adjustments

Special High C# Adjuster

One of the interesting features of this particular Martin Handcraft model is its factory-designed High C# Adjuster.

This special adjustment mechanism was developed to improve the intonation of high C#, addressing a tuning issue commonly associated with vintage alto saxophones.

It is an excellent example of Martin's innovative approach to saxophone design during the late 1920s.

Beautiful Silver-Plated Finish

The silver plating is in remarkably fine cosmetic condition for an instrument approaching 100 years of age, retaining its attractive appearance with relatively little visible plating wear.

The beautiful gold-washed bell interior provides an elegant contrast to the silver-plated body and adds considerably to the instrument's vintage appeal.

I have used an equal alto saxophone as my main sax for decades in jazz and blues settings.
