About this listing
1964 Gibson Firebird III. Really nice intact example, with no breaks or repairs, all original finish. All parts original apart from a few small screws and two strap buttons. Missing two of the reflector discs in the original knobs. Nice full ‘64 neck profile (.84” at first fret / .97” at 12th fret) with a wide 1.69” nut. This one was refretted by Joel Whitehead in Los Angeles a few years ago, and plays beautifully with low action. Relatively lightweight at 7.87 lbs and comes in the OHSC, in decent shape (replaced handle). Most of the pot date codes are obscured by solder, but the visible ones date to the 36th week of 1963. See photos for general condition, there is buckle rash on the back, some case wear on the lower bout and some splits in the original celluloid guard, which has shrinking typical of this era. General finish checking and wear that you'd expect to see on a Gibson from this era. It’s hard to find a 60s reverse Firebird without any issues, this one is a great example of this model, in collector grade condition and ready to enjoy. Shipping available worldwide -- I will only ship this overnight UPS (or 3-day international). The guitar will be packed very well for shipping. Please note: Vintage Firebirds require shipping with the last three tuners on the neck removed to avoid pressing against the back of the case.
