About this listing
Now available on consignment, a mid 1963 Fender Stratocaster in its original 3-tone sunburst finish. This particular example has all of the desirable pre-CBS features including clay dot inlays, a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, and the spaghetti logo. It has been well played, with plenty of buckle rash and checking from decades of real play time. The guitar has a few changes including:At some point some switching was added under the pickguard, there is routing near the horn (see photos). On the back of the body the finish has reacted with something (see photos). An older refret with medium jumbo frets and a replacement nut.The wiring harness has been rewired with the original stackpole pots, capacitor and switch. The bridge and neck pickups were rewound at some point, the middle pickup remains original and two height grommets are replaced.Other than mentioned the guitar retains most of its original parts, including all of the hardware, and plastics minus the pickguard. All three original black bottom pickups remain, as do all three 250k Stackpole pots dating to the 24th week of '63. Both the neck date of June, and body date of August remain as well. The back of the neck has mostly worn off from play, and the neck finish and decal remains untouched.Overall a great playing and sounding 1963 Fender Stratocaster!Includes its original Stamford export case, the tremolo arm and backplate are not included.--- Joel's Vintage Guitars is a by appointment vintage & used guitar store located in Sydney, Australia.
