About this listing
The Princeton Reverb II was produced from 1982 to 1985 as part of Fender's transition-era Silver Face to Rivera-designed line. It was designed by Paul Rivera before he left Fender to start his own company, making these amps a notable moment in Fender history — more sophisticated circuit topology than the classic blackface/silverface Princeton Reverb, with a master volume, a gain stage, and a different voicing philosophy. The 1982 date is confirmed by the serial number and component codes. All four transformers are original Schumacher units with date codes consistent with 1982 production. Filter caps are original. Potentiometers are original. The installed EV Force 12 speaker pushes the low-end and midrange response further than the original Jensen would. You get a punchy, present clean tone with good headroom for the wattage, and the onboard spring reverb adds usable depth. This is a well-loved example: black tolex original and intact, cabinet in very good shape, chassis in very good condition with no repairs performed. The tubes were all tested to make sure you don't have to replace them right away. The original Jensen speaker is included but needs a recone and is not currently installed. The EV Force 12 currently in the cab is not original, and the baffle may have been modified to accommodate it. There are a couple of extra screw holes in the cabinet from what appears to be repositioning of the power cable and possibly the reverb tank at some point — no structural issue, just cosmetic. The grille cloth is original but rated fair — expect some wear there. Knobs are original, rated fair to good. No pedal, no cover, no documentation included. Power cable is grounded.Mahar's Vintage Guitars is a brick-and-mortar and web-based retailer. We are happy to talk with you before you make a purchase. Please reach out if you feel so inclined!
