A superb 1964 Fender Jazz bass! This being a fantastic sounding and looking example with a beautiful matching headstock. This bass is almost completely original (finish, frets, screws, pickups, pots etc), there is just some overspray on the back of the neck and fingerboard. This is not glaringly obvious and it still retains it's full character. The neck is stamped 7 June 64 A. Original potentiometers all date to 1964. The original finish on this bass has aged beautifully. Pickups are original as well as the pickguard. It is in great condition for its age, it has expected wear, including areas of missing finish and scratches to the finish as can be seen in the photos. Overview

The first set of changes for the Jazz Bass came quite early, with the "stacked knob" configuration from the first instruments giving way to the more familiar 3-control layout. Around 1962, the slab rosewood fretboard used on earlier instruments was replaced with a thinner rosewood veneer, with the string mutes coming off in 1963 and pearl dots replacing the clay dot in lays in 1964.
