This is a extremely rare guitar... Never messing around with this beautyFender's Custom Shop did a very limited run in 2004 (of only 100!!) of 3 versions of the Strat: a '56, 60 and '65. All of them beautifully relic'd and with a very unique Aztec Gold color. This one is the '60 version, the only one of the three with a matching headstock. Simply stunning and a very rare find!A collector's guitar indeed, but also a GREAT sounding guitar, as you might expect. It has Custom 60's pickups (these don't retail separately) that offer that era's agressive and warm sound (and not so "bell-like" as the 50's p'ups, for example). The fretboard is quite dark, and contrasts beautifully with the golden body. The relic is top-grade work, not as heavy as other relic jobs we may find. The subtle but present checking around the whole body (and headstock!) is killer. Aztec Gold is rarely used by Fender, usually limiting its use for commemorative editions like this one, or very sporadic masterbuilds. And this is the only relic'd Aztec Gold run in the history of Fender... ever! The guitar's condition is absolutely immaculate. Frets show NO wear, so this looks like it's been an under-the-bed trophy for nearly 21 years! You can also tell by looking at the beautiful, dead-mint tweed case... Even the locks have the plastic protection.Includes OHSC, COA, strap, cable, trem bar, bridge cover and rest of case candy.
