About this listing
A lovely 2U clone of the REDD 47 preamp that Abbey Road made famous. I've upgraded the 6922 tube to a NOS orange label USA Amperex O-getter (100+ $ these days if you can even find NOS) and the EF86/6267 to a Mullard made Fisher. Sounded very good before, sounds great now! Very low hours, I use it once in a blue moon for acoustic sources, bass, or to do the "Revolution" DI distortion thing on guitars. I just don't have the room in my rack for this anymore so I'd like to find it a home where it gets used more than once or twice a year. It's got some rack rash on the top plate, otherwise in pristine condition. Thanks for looking. From the company: The Dizengoff Audio D4 is a single-channel preamp that aims to recreate the classic British console prevalent in the 1960s. The sound of the Beatles, Pink Floyd, the Zombies, and others can, in part, be traced to the preamp upon which the D4 is modeled. Expanding on the gain settings of the original preamp, the D4 offers a range of 20 to 60 dB by means of its 12-position rotary attenuator, which is stepped for precision. You’ll also find a variable fine-trim knob; this allows you to finely attenuate the gain between 2 and 4 dB, depending on the gain’s setting. A wide, hefty sound is secured with an EF86 pentode vacuum tube, while the signal path transformers, wound in Chicago, take advantage of modern materials to achieve a fidelity commiserate with today’s standards. For exceedingly loud signals, a 20 dB pad is provided, while condenser microphones plugged into the XLR input can be supplied with 48V phantom power through an onboard switch. You can also flip signal polarity with a 180° toggle. In addition to the XLR input, you’ll have access to a 1/4” DI input for guitars, basses, and the like. Instead of a wall-wart, the D4 utilizes an internal power supply built around a Japanese Nippo Steel R-core power transformer, giving you efficiency and low-noise in the same package. The preamp takes up 2 RU of rack space, and provides a frequency response of 20 Hz to approximately 60 kHz.
