About this listing
For sale is my Akai S6000 sampler. This is a pretty fully loaded unit: 128 voices, 256 MB RAM, Zulu SCSI2SD drive installed, EB20 effects board, Vox64 card, and the USB option installed. The ADAT option is not installed. The Zulu drive has the OS installed, so it boots without needing a floppy. OS version is 2.14, which was the final Akai OS for these units. The floppy drive is currently disconnected because of the Zulu setup, but it is still in the unit and can be reconnected if desired.Included:Akai S6000 samplerRemovable front panel / screenextension cable for the removable screenQWERTY keyboard for use with the screenPower cableSD CardCondition notes: this unit originally came to me with a damaged screen. The screen has since been replaced and is working. The main unit came missing the original thumbscrew bushing for the removable screen unit. I added screw extenders so the screen can still sit on the front of the base unit. It works for setting the screen down into the base unit, but it is not as secure as the original hardware would be. In practice, I think the screen works best on a desk anyway, especially with the included extension cable if the sampler is mounted in a rack.Functionally, the sampler is working. It powers up, boots from the Zulu drive, and the screen is clear and usable. Sampling time is around 20+ minutes in stereo or 40+ minutes in mono when recording direct to disk. This is one of the last big rack samplers from that era, and still a very deep machine if you want hardware sampling, multis, keygroups, Akai library support, and a large tactile screen-based workflow. I just do not need a large rack sampler in my current setup anymore. Please review the photos carefully. This is vintage professional audio gear and is sold as-is due to age.
