F Loree 1929 Pre-War ZZ87

I don’t sell oboes for a living, but here’s a description furnished by a friend who is one of the most experienced oboe dealers in the world: 

   The oboe was made in 1929, one of the last of the "double letter" serial number series.

A1-Z99 represents 1881 to 1910, AA1-ZZ99 represents 1910-1929, and AA1 represents 1929 to present.

Of course there is an occasional overlap between the "double letter series," and the present day serial number scheme. For instance,  there is a Loree instrument with serial number beginning with LL made c. 1924, and there will also be a modern Loree instrument with a serial number beginning with LL c. 1995.  It is easy to tell the difference by looking at the key patterns.

The oboe is a "thin wall" pre-war (pre WWII) example. The oboe will likely exhibit a "bright sound."  Loree did not make "thick wall" oboes until after WWII.

The oboe is missing a left hand F key, missing an F resonance key, and does not have an articulated C# mechanism. 

The crack in the top of the lower joint at the top at the back is of no consequence- this is easy to repair, according to an oboe expert who took a look at it.
