This rare and unusual Art Nouveau-style mandolin comes from the Markneukirchen workshop of mail-order dealer Ewald Glaesel and was produced specifically for the English market.

The label inside contains the following information:
“By His Majesty's Royal Letters Patent No. 2244 Viennese School of Music.”
Stamped on both tuning pegs is the number of its imperial patent (German Imperial Utility Model): “DRGM 186662”
Length 65 cm, scale length 33 cm, width 23.5 cm, nut width 29 mm
The instrument shows various signs of wear, such as scratches, scuffs, and patina. Some cracks in the top have been lovingly restored. The lower string clasp is missing. The mandolin is in excellent playing condition with smooth-turning pegs, a straight neck, and a nice, low string action. No case included.
