UV Effects MUON Dirty Boost | NOS J201 JFET One-Knob Boost with Dirt Toggle

The MUON is a highly musical dirty boost inspired by the Analogman Bad Bob. While the original uses 2N5457 JFETs for a cleaner response, the MUON is built around NOS J201 JFETs, which break up earlier and deliver more harmonic saturation. An additional JFET buffer stage preserves high-end sparkle through long cable runs.

Two Gain Modes

In standard mode, single coils get touch-sensitive breakup at the edge of saturation. Humbuckers run hotter with more grit. Roll back your guitar's volume for cleaner tones, or dig in for drive. Engage the Dirt switch for thicker saturation and more harmonics. Single coils push into overdrive territory. Humbuckers approach distortion.

Why NOS J201 JFETs?

JFETs behave like miniature vacuum tubes, producing warm, harmonically rich saturation. The J201 is a favorite among pedal builders, but NOS through-hole versions are increasingly rare. Their electrical characteristics vary wildly from unit to unit, so we hand-test each one to find the ones that meet our specs.

9V-18V Support

The MUON runs on 9V-18V DC. At 18V, the boost gains more headroom, clarity, and volume.
