Super rare sampler here, I just recently got this. It was kind of a blind buy from a local marketplace. Not much is known about these, but it appears they were frequently compared to the SP202. It just has RCA in and out, and a dsub connector (apparently for connecting to a computer somehow). On the front panel it has some mechanical keyboard esque keys that really caught my attention.
It appears that these were mainly targeted toward DJ’s, as you could easily connect it to a dj mixer via rca. And then route audio into the device via aux/fx send/splitting from the cue output. Then sampling it and there are a few effects you can put on them. It has short sampling time, and it does not have the 8mb upgrade, so only 2 banks. It is in 24bit, but it can downsample from 44.1kHz to 32 and 22.05 which is interesting. With the built in compressor it could sound really nice.
Anyway, I’ve been fiddling with this thing and I can’t tell if I just don’t understand how to get sound out of it or if there is damage somewhere inside that is affecting the output signal. All the buttons and the screen work, however I have yet to get sound out of it.
Next month I’ll be heading to another city to visit some friends and I’m planning to stop by one of them who is a synth repairer and will see if he can figure this out for me. But in the meantime I don’t mind selling this off. I would estimate in its current state a value of $200 but if I can confidently say it works well I think it could fetch $500.
