Extremely rare 1970's Univox Ripper model U1851 (which denoted the natural maple model)....believe this to be 1975 or 1976...according to research, there were only 500 of these made and about 200 were exported to the USA...seems that the maple finishes are even harder to find....
hard rock maple neck with honest mojo...very fast and smooth...three position switch, volume and two tone knobs...tremolo arm is missing....three humbucker pickups....this is a very cool guitar....has a unique 7 piece body construction....very solid feeling guitar....all wear is honest and consistent with age....I found a cool period Univox Bass case for it....fits like a glove with about 7 inches of head room at top....case is covered in bumper stickers....perfect companion to this guitar....I have not opened up this guitars guts, but believe everything to be original....
electronics could use cleaning ....great sound and vibe on these pups....this is truly an amazing and unique guitar....this Univox (made by the famed Matsumoku factory) represents the apex of the Univox ingenuity of the time....a tough one for me to let go of, but need to cull the herd.....
