Up for sale, a (circa) 1890s French Banjoline in excellent condition.  This rare mandolin/banjo hybrid, incorporates the tuning, scale length and four course construction of a mandolin, with the head and tone ring of a miniature banjo.  Producing a unique sound that has nice focus and projection, the Banjoline has great percussive chop as well and creates a sound you simply can't duplicate. Professionally restored with a new hand carved bridge and setup, this Banjoline is more than a vintage curiosity and is ready to be played!
The 17 fret neck has a chunky V profile with smooth contours that fit the palm comfortably.  The rosewood fretboard retains the original bar frets, which are in truly fantastic shape, and a brand new nut has been carved for this instrument as well.  The original geared tuning machines are intact on the headstock, with one replaced G string button.
The new maple bridge sits atop a 6" head which appears to be original and is undoubtedly ancient to say the least!  The resonator is attached with eight brackets and features a very cool green pearloid finish.  This fragile pearloid wrap is in incredible shape, especially given its age, with only light wear and separation near the neck joint and one cosmetic crack on the back which is only through the wrap and not the multi-ply resonator.  The original tailpiece is present and boasts seven of the original eight hooks for attaching the strings (the E string loops are both currently on the same hook).
Don't miss out on this rare chance to own a restored, early French Banjoline!
