A light golden amber varnish with slight ware and patina no cracks or open seams, corners are intact purfling channels are deeply carved on top and back plates exceptionally done, finely fluted 'f' holes. Top is a fine to medium grain spruce with AUBERT French bridge with fine grain and excellently carved. Back is a two-piece slab of fine to medium figured maple; sides, neck and delicately carved scroll are of similarly figured timbers. Fingerboard is a solid ebony as well as the fittings; pegs all turn smoothly, tailpiece with single 'e' hill-style fine tuner and Guarneri-style chinrest. Tone is warm and supple suitable for chamber or solo playing.
