Masaru Kohno No. 3 D “Golden Age” Rare! 1966

I have had the pleasure of having several of these amazing Kohno guitars through my shop and I can honestly say that this is one of the best ones I have seen yet! Made in what I consider to be his Golden Age, the period between when he mastered his technique and when he got famous and started to use more apprentices to build guitars, this guitar has everything you could ever want in a vintage classical guitar. There are far fewer Kohno guitars from before 1967 than after. It was Built the year before he became a world-renowned luthier by winning the Gold Metal in the International guitar building competition in 1967.

The tone is warm and full, with clear highs and lots of resonance in the low end. The guitar plays and sounds simply great and is all original.

The overall condition is great with a few minor marks as shown in the pictures and no cracks. The frets are in good shape and the tuners are original. A small section of the back had separated from the side and has been professionally repaired, see the last picture. If you look closely you can see where the gap was filled to match and it was then clear coated and polished in the repaired area only. It’s not noticeable unless you are looking for it but I wanted to point it out.

Comes in a brand new tweed style hard case, still new with tags.
