Up for sale is this super cool Gibson "The SG" guitar from ca. 1979 (as indicated by the pot codes). Designed to be a more affordable version of an SG Standard, "The SG" clearly lives up to addition of the definite article in its name in spite of its lower price point.

Please note: the case pictured is not included. It was used only to protect the guitar while it was being photographed outdoors. It will ship in a deluxe padded gig bag.

This is a great vintage guitar at an affordable price that will give you all the bite and growl of a classic Gibson SG.

"The SG" features a walnut body and neck, along with a beautiful dark ebony fretboard. The body and neck are particularly clean for a nearly 40-year-old guitar, it shows only normal play wear, and that fairly minor. There is a hint of buckle rash on the back, and a few very light nicks here and there. Some of the finish has worn off the back of the neck from regular play, but this is not that noticeable. As is to be expected on the guitar of this age, there is some moderate fret wear on the first few frets, but this virtually disappears as you move up the neck. The neck itself is straight as an arrow and plays nicely with no fret buzz or fretting out.

Most importantly, there are no breaks or cracks anywhere on this guitar, to which Gibsons sometimes seem particularly prone.

The guitar also features 1970s era t-top humbucker pick ups, which are an in direct descendent of Gibson's original PAF's from the 50s and 60s. They received the name "t-top" because of the T-shaped markings on the top of the pick up, which were intended to indicate to factory workers how they were to be positioned on the guitar.

Finally, it does appear that the guitar may have had a sticker affixed to the top at one time. Thankfully there is only a very faint outline of its previous existence, which is only visible upon extremely close inspection. Virtually non-existent.

Now is your chance to get a great vintage guitar at an extremely affordable price. This is a great way to get into the vintage guitar market and have an awesome-playing and sounding axe.

The only thing that looks to be changed is one tone knob, which looks a little different from the others.

The price is $999.99 with free shipping to the domestic USA.   International buyers please contact me for specific pricing and details to your home country.
