Hawthorn RB-7 Style 2018 maple top tension banjo

A new Bradford & Company built Hawthorn RB-7 style maple top tension banjo.  This one has Huber Vintage 20 hole flathead tone ring and a Jimmy Cox three-ply maple rim, as well as our proprietary Eco brass cast and CNC machined top tension hoop and reinforced Eco brass flange. The Eco brass flange is sand cast and machined and is designed with bosses on the bottom of the bolt holes to allow for triple the threads found in the old pot metal Gibson flange. The resonator is a period correct solid maple piece with a flat inside.  The rosewood fretboard has a big 12 inch radius like the original pre-war Gibson top tension models.  Waverly tuners.  Huber Head.  The bead of the head is slightly notched at the edge to completely clear the top tension bolts.  This does not affect the integrity of the head.  We have a special jig in our shop to notch the outer edge of the bead on the head. We can provide and brand of the notched heads at cost. Spikes at 7,9, and 10.  New nickel plated Gary Price SL-5 Straightline tailpiece installed.  Top tension Banjos are heavier than standard Banjos.  This one weighs 13.35 pounds.  Hardshell case included.  This one is the same model played by Wes Corbett in the award winning Molly Tuttle Band.  The additional mass from the heavier brass flange seems to help provide a lower and more mellow sound.  This banjo was played on the Grand Ole Opry by Russ Carson with Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder.
