The 4240, is much faster than the 4040, even though it has the same magnet as the 4040, because of the double rolled cloth edge.
The double rolled cloth edge allow the cone greater flexibility in travel to the speaker's excursion and incursion on a note sent to it by the amp.
Since the cone has greater flexibility you still retain the crunch and the chime is huge since the cone distorts evenly.
Further, the 4240 ceramic magnet de-magnetizes only slightly due to the double rolled cloth edge’s flexibility.
