Vintage Neumann KM264 tube microphone (Telefunken AC701k tube)
VERY GOOD CONDITION like new
– Serial number: 90
This microphone formerly belonged to the American broadcaster RIAS, which was dedicated to broadcasting Western culture to East Germany. Many artists performed live sessions there, including the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Pavarotti, Rostropovich, and others.
The KM64—of which the KM264 is a 7-pin Tuchel version designed for radio and television—was the successor to the KM54. It did not remain in the product catalog for long, as it was produced during the transitional period when the industry was shifting from tube to transistor microphones.
It is therefore a rare find; it is an excellent microphone that offers precision across the frequency spectrum, with the distinctive sonic character imparted by the legendary Telefunken AC701k tube.
It subsequently belonged to a private collector.
