Here we have a wonderful Epiphone ES-339 from 2012 in the classic Ebony finish.
It has been played and therefore shows some light signs of use and a few superficial scratches, but no major dings or dents. Overall, it is in very good condition.
The ES-339 is perfect for anyone who loves the feel of a semi-hollow guitar but finds an ES-335 a little too bulky. In terms of body size, it is only slightly larger than a Les Paul and comparable in dimensions to a Casino Coupé. This makes it sit very comfortably against the body. At just approx. 3.33 kg, this one is also pleasantly light.
In our opinion, the neck is more C than D, fairly flat and feels great in the hand. The rosewood fingerboard also feels a touch wider than on a Les Paul with a classic '60s neck.
The factory fretwork was not particularly good, even though the frets themselves showed hardly any signs of wear. So we took care of it, carefully levelled, recrowned and polished the frets, and then gave the guitar a complete setup. Now it plays as smoothly as it should.
The Epiphone Alnico Classic PRO humbuckers do a really good job: warm and punchy, yet still with plenty of clarity. The electronics are classic Epiphone standard and work flawlessly.
Tonally? A rock machine with a blues soul that also does a damn fine job in jazz.
