About this listing
Marketed by Klassic Keys GB (Ashny-de-la-Zouch, England)Here we have a rare example of a WORKING Hohner Pianet N electric piano from 1967. At this point in musical history, it was nigh impossible to find a decent electric piano at all. Wurlitzer and Fender Rhodes were just emerging, and carried a hefty price tag. Hohner electro-mechanical pianos had the market to itself for a few years......Lovin' Spoonful/Roxy Music/Genesis/King Crimson/Curved Air were prolific users, and Christine McVie(Fleetwood Mac) was a major player, as were The Beatles......the percussive sound did blend well in the prog rock/pop songs of the time (eg I am the Walrus). Prog-rock band Soft Machine ( Mike Ratledge) used one on "Volume 2" album (1969).Made by Hohner AG in Trossingen, W. Germany, there were not that many Pianet N pianos made over 4 years of production. This one was sourced from Stirling, Scotland in late 2024. After extensive servicing/repair by two separate KKGB techs (one to sort out the decrepit amplifier and improve the earthing...other to restore and radically improve the key action/sticky pads/tuning/voicing), this "N" is now looking for a new home. Condition? Studying the photos, it is obvious that this instrument is still in a great condition, considering it is nearly 60 years old! Some attention has been made to restore the lustre of the woodwork, but what REALLY matters is how well the instrument actually plays. The 61 white keys are in excellent shape, and they speedily snap back "to start" ~ they are velocity sensitive ( a tad) and now have a superb "feel". The keys have also been serviced/lubed. Pianets do not have a sustain mechanism (the ElectraPiano was the only one that did...), so if played like an organ, there will be circa 5 seconds sustain available on all keys (its fully polyphonic), There is no volume control on the model, but there is a volume pedal supplied with the unit...so "violining" is possible aka "fading in", like what can be done on an electric guitar. The vibrato works well, and can be tweaked by adjusting the pots on the internal pre-amp. The audio out is strong, and KKGB will supply an external passive traffo to kill the inherent hum. There is a flip-switch to quickly change the operating voltage, so plug in anywhere on this planet!THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST PIANET N ELECTRIC PIANOS THAT YOU WILL EVER FIND IN THE WORLD. THE SOUND IS AMAZING....FANTASTIC "BITE" AND BRIGHT TONE.....FAR SUPERIOR THAN THE PIANET T (from a different Pianet generation). See attached video <> this player can show us how wonderful a Pianet N can sound, using the swell pedal to "violin" the music... <> its NOT the KKGB in the photos. UK price is £1850. FREE door-to-door mainland delivery, Pianet will be double-boxed/well packed/strapped. Sale is via HMRC VAT margin scheme. No VAT can be reclaimed.EXPORT price is £1750. There is a voltage flip-switch; you can plug in anywhere on this planet. Pianet will be double boxed and strapped. Tell us where you are and speedy send-quote will arrive.
