About this listing
Gretsch’s "Chrome Over Brass" offers a distinctive take on the standard brass shell. This captivating snare drum fuses the characteristic brilliance and solid, meaty tone of brass with the mellow, acoustic resonance unique to Gretsch.A key feature is its ability to deliver a powerful, commanding attack and excellent note definition without the sound becoming unruly, resulting in a rich, musical quality. It maintains a deep, tight sound even at higher pitches, accommodating a wide tuning range. It excels particularly in rimshot projection and presence, while also delivering the rich low-end and power expected of a 6.5-inch deep shell. It is a versatile all-rounder that blends naturally into everything from rock and pop to acoustic genres like jazz, offering expressive capabilities across the board. This is a highly refined model that combines Gretsch’s signature sound character with the power and responsiveness typical of brass. If you are looking for a metal snare with depth, this is an instrument whose sound you simply must experience.Additionally, the "G-5447"—a holder designed to store the tuning key inside the unit, just like those found on vintage snares—has been reissued, allowing you to enjoy the charm of Gretsch even more closely.(Specifications)Size: 14" x 6.5"Shell: Chrome Over Brass (1.2mm)Original Center BeadHoops: Die-cast, 8-lugStrainer: Lightning Throw-OffHead: REMO CS Coated AmbassadorSnare Wires: 42-strand, internal contact (G-5412)
