Aperçu
Perhaps Gretsch's single most famous guitar, the White Falcon debuted in 1955. The guitar was conceived as the absolute top of the line; the Cadillac of archtops. The 1957 model was updated with humptop inlays. Gold plastic binding and thumbnail inlays were introduced in 1958. Double mutes and a padded back were then added starting in 1960.
The White Falcon was updated to a double cutaway body and also featured a zero fret in 1962. Cosmetic changes to the 1964 model included a Gretsch vibrato with "G" plate, and large non-stairstep tuning machines.
