About this listing
Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a highly collectible 1940's era Electro Voice V-1 "Velocity" Ribbon microphone in working condition that comes with a newer desk stand in which to display. A smaller ribbon mic made by E.V and certainly one of the most unique. This would make a great mod project or even an award for somebody in the music or broadcasting industry. Yes, the mic actually still works with the original ribbon within the mic. It's a small miracle as 90% of the V-1 mics no longer work but like all older ribbon mics the signal strength on this mic is very low. Right around 20% so this really should be used as a display example and not to be used for any other purpose. Pic # 2 is from an old 1946 Electro Voice advertisement showing it's basic characteristics. The V-1 series is about 3 times smaller than the much larger V-2 produced by Electro Voice during the same time period. This V-1 measures 6 1/2 inches tall X 2 1/2 inches wide. The polished chrome body shows typical wear as seen in the pictures provided and the nicer V-1's I have offered on Ebay or Reverb. The E.V label looks pretty damn nice too. The V-1 sits on it's original yoke / swivel and it works nicely allowing just the right amount of tension and desired angle. Very lite wear on the chrome tightening / thumb screws. Both front and rear chrome screens have just lite tarnishing as seen in the pics and free of any dents. All original components inside including original ribbon, transformer and all screws. The on / off switch still works and slides smooth. You can always have the ribbon and motor replaced on this mic if you'd like to get it up to studio grade for actual use. I know a gentleman who can get this up and sounding fantastic for a very reasonable price if you are interested? The company is called ENAK and they are based out of New Jersey. Cosmetically it's a very conservative 8 on a scale of 1 - 10. Very impressive due to the fact that these polished bodies scratch and pit easily over the years. Again, this mic is far above average. MICROPHONE STAND IS PART OF THIS SALE... The stand is a newer cast iron model desk stand. The stand is an excellent platform for this mic as it has a bit of weight and it's stable. The cast iron base has original black paint which is pretty nice overall with just lite wear. This stand gives the microphone a bit of height. Mic with stand is appx 10 inches tall X 4 inches across. The stand has a nice 3 inch chrome riser with virtually no wear. The base comes with 3 new felt pads. I'd give the stand a solid 8 on a scale of 1 - 10. As with all my other vintage microphones... I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The return shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating. If you don't intend on buying this...do not commit to buy please. Domestic buyer will get priority shipping. If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.
